StarRupture, a new open-world adventure from the creators of the highly acclaimed survival game Green Hell, was released on 6 January 2026 on PC. This time, Creepy Jar takes us to an unknown planet, where its secrets are ready to be uncovered by anyone willing to explore its wilderness. Alone or in with friends in the cooperative mode, you’re challenged to survive in the hostile territory while fighting off tremendous hordes of aliens. Build your base, set up your defenses, and hope for the best when the next wave arrives.
No Man’s Sky meets Satisfactory?
The space theme definitely makes me think of No Man’s Sky. The planet Arcadia-7 not only has its own flora and fauna, but it also changes constantly. Yes, aesthetically, both games have something in common, but they have different focuses, gameplay-wise. While No Man’s Sky lets you travel across different planets and solar systems, here, we’re stuck on the same ground. But it doesn’t mean that StarRupture is less interesting; on the contrary, its cycle-like nature makes the game very challenging.
Once in a while, the planet gets a massive heat wave, also called a Thermal Wall. Are you outside when it happens? You’ll die on sight. Your equipment doesn’t have the necessary protection? Say goodbye to it. Such hazards happen every now and then, forcing you to adapt to all situations. More than that, after this phase passes, it leaves the planet full of new resources. Some of them are very valuable, such as Hot Asteroids. You have to get them before they cool down, which might not be as easy as it sounds. The game has plenty of such challenges, which make it unique in the genre.

If StarRupture resembles some game, it’s more likely Satisfactory. Both of them have a complex logistics system, where you need to build the most efficient production chain. However, StarRupture is more into surviving, where your factory serves as an important weapon to stay tall against extraterrestrial creatures. In other words, it has not only a different gameplay loop, but also its own soul.
Is StarRupture worth buying?
It is important to note that the game is still in Early Access. It has a great performance, but the content will be enriched, which is a good thing. In their roadmap, developers have shared the features that will be added in the future:
- Full controller support
- Customizable difficulty settings
- New building and combat mechanics
- UI improvements
- Brand-new locations, loot, and points of interest
- Accessibility features
- and more
More than that, the 1.0 version will come with a new biome, additional endgame, Frost Wave hazard, Steam achievements, and story elements. While they don’t specify the dates (or the frequency) of these updates, the fact that they envision expanding their game is already promising.

StarRupture has hit a top sales on Steam instantly after its launch, and for a good reason. It’s challenging, with a great cooperative mode and new survival mechanics that we haven’t seen before. The graphics are polished, and it’s just fun to play. More than that, the price is quite reasonable for a game released in 2026.
If you enjoy the games where you need to plan your strategy, build a massive base, manage resources, and explore ever changing world, StarRupture is the right choice for you.
