Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is a brand-new simulation game that takes us into the world of the zombie apocalypse. Unlike many other titles in the genre, it is not focused on survival in its traditional way. We play the role of a guardian in the safe camp who has to check every newcomer. With the use of high-tech tools, we can search people for bites, contraband items, and weapons, and decide whether or not they can be let in. And all of our choices have consequences. Letting an infected survivor slip in can turn into a nightmare, and refusing a desperate person will be heartbreaking. This new approach to the zombie outbreak is what made Quarantine Zone shine this week in Steam’s top sales.

Infection Must Not Be Spread
The whole game is focused around a checkpoint to the safety camp – the last hope for survival in the zombie-infested world. Everyone wants to get here, but not all will have a chance, though. We have to search very carefully for even a little sign of bite or infection to prevent it from spreading all over the block. Thankfully, we can use a special tool that allows us to see through clothes, which helps a lot in our missions. But this is not all. We not only make a choice which person is granted an entry, but we also have the power to decide their fate. If their health looks suspicious, we can put them in quarantine and see what happens next. But the place is limited. Some of the infected have to be liquidated on sight, otherwise they may turn or attack you out of desperation.
Resources Are Scarce
Management is another big part of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. With the use of essential resources, we can expand our base with more constructions, but even a minor error can turn into a death sentence. All of the survivors need food, medics, and other resources that are in the era of zombie apocalypse are hard to find. We have to order as many supplies as necessary, keeping in mind that every shipment takes time. In case our stock is dangerously low, the riot will begin.

We can also get new tools to help us see more clearly if the person is infected or not, but at a high cost. For example, UV Scanner shows the external marks of sickness, while Portable X-Ray scans the internal organs. There are more sure methods, such as The Syringe Analyzer, which shows within seconds if a person is suffering from an infection. But their use is limited and has to be saved as much as possible.
The Danger Remains Constant
Even if we’re behind tall walls, need to keep sharp. Zombies are lurking outside, and they can attack us at any moment. This is why we have to set up our defenses, all while trying to be the world’s best inspector in the “Papers, Please” style. The game is stressful enough with all of the tasks it’s throwing at us. And becomes even more tense as we face difficult choices. Should we invest in the new equipment or order more food? It’s up to us, but we’ll have to deal with consequences.
Conclusion – Unique Concept With Challenging Gameplay That Still Lacks Depth

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check stands out with its unique gameplay; however, the story remains shallow. As much as the game punishes us for bad management skills and wrong decisions, we don’t feel connected enough to the characters. On the bright side, it is atmospheric and very polished visually. For those who enjoy complex management games set in the post-apocalypse, Quarantine Zone is a piece of cake. And hopefully, developers won’t stop improving it to explore its full potential.
