A few weeks ago, the actress who has become very popular lately, “Jennifer English” announced that she would be stepping down from her role as “Gwendolyn” in Tides of Annihilation, a role she announced in February 2025, at the game’s reveal.
The reason for her stepping down was not necessarily concrete, considering that all she revealed online was that “there are personal issues”.
Fans, but also haters, began to speculate that the actress actually stepped down from the role because one of the villains in the game is played by her ex-girlfriend with whom she was together for a long time.. of course, nothing is confirmed, they are just rumors, and there would be no point in going into personal details, considering that the actress left no room for questions.
Coming back to the show, a week or so ago, a member of our community found out that “Angela Sant’Albano” had started following the official Twitter/X page of the game Tides of Annihilation, this happened shortly after Jennifer English announced her departure.
This finding seemed enough to me to deduce whether the actress will indeed be involved in this game, considering that the only game that X follows is “Resident Evil”, where she played a main character.
However, after a little digging, we managed to get some more evidence.
First of all, very recently we received new gameplay from the Shanghai event, a demo that should also come to Gamescom very soon, along with a new trailer and most likely with the official confirmation that Angela is indeed the new VA.
In this gameplay, I could see not only that the main character’s appearance is drastically changed to look more like the voice actress, namely Angela.. but also the voice seems very similar to hers.
The last hint I found was rather a conversation between Gwendolyn’s mocap actress along with me and another X user..
In that conversation, I was very curious about her opinion of Gwendolyn’s new appearance, considering that this is a very hot topic on Chinese social media networks like Bilibili and Weibo.
She replied to me with the following words: “It’s mainly the voice as Jen English isn’t doing it anymore, the fundamentals are still there” .. which would indicate that the developers have indeed started to put the face of the new VA as well as Gwen’s appearance.
In the other message she responded with these words when asked if Angela is her new voice actress: “Yep!!! but this time, no more screaming ‘LEON!!!!’
Personally, I think there is enough evidence to deduce that Angela Sant’Albano will be scoring as Gwendolyn in the new game we will be playing soon at Gamescom!
