Between 2023 and 2025, DON’T NOD went through a period of spectacular expansion, launching a wave of original games and consolidating its position as one of the most important independent developers on the European scene.
Having had great success with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and Jusant, Don’t Nod went into a process of bringing games to the conveyor belt, more or less, annually.
Recently, our team learned some details about a certain project from Don’t Nod that was canceled in the Pre-Production phase due to layoffs.
Sources told us that the game was in a Pre-Production stage for about 9 months, from September 2023 to June 2024. The team was quite small, with about 15-20 developers working during that period.
As for the genre of the game, it was a new IP, a very ambitious Sci-Fi Singleplayer Action RPG in Unreal Engine 5. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find out much about the game’s art design or other details, as it was also in pre-production.
However, we were able to find out that the developers went straight to a very ambitious new project, which was rumored in the past months. Namely a similar project to the one we talked about in the past, but sources have stated that this is one of the most important games in development at Don’t Nod, being Open-World as well.
I wouldn’t expect to hear about this title too soon, being quite early in development, but our team will try to find more details about the studio and what they are planning in the near future, stay tuned.
