The world of Pywel is as unforgiving as it is beautiful, if you want to survive the first few hours of Crimson Desert without constantly staring at a “Game Over” screen you need watch this early progression guide. From gear resets to bank heists, here is how you should prioritize your early journey.
1. The “Loot Run”: Gear Up Early
As soon as the game gives you free rein in Hernand, don’t just follow the main markers. There are specific “Sanctums” that hold high-tier gear which will make your life significantly easier.
- Sanctum of Temperance: Grab the Odeck’s Protector Plate Boots.
- Sanctum of Penitence: Look for the Blackwing Leather Gloves.
- Sanctum of Benediction: Contains the Leather Helm of the Fallen Kingdom.
- Icemoor Castle Ruins: Don’t leave without the Leather Cloak of the Fallen Kingdom.
Pro Tip: Visit the Witches’ Sanctums early! The enemies there only spawn during specific quests, meaning you can waltz in and take the loot for free while the area is still “quiet.”
2. Economy and Reputation
In Crimson Desert, Contribution Points are your most valuable currency for long-term growth. You earn these by completing side quests and bounties. Use them to buy high-end armor and accessories that aren’t available through drops.
- Watch your Crimes: Getting caught stealing reduces your Contribution Points. If you’re going to be a criminal, do it where it doesn’t hurt your standing!
- The Hernand Bank Heist: Need quick cash? Buy a mask and a key from Grimrak (the back-alley merchant in Hernand Farmhouse) and rob the local bank. It’s an easy 40+ Silver boost.
3. Camp Management and Pets
Don’t ignore the Greymane quests. These unlock essential camp features and allow you to send followers on missions. Think of it as passive income: always have a mission running while you are out exploring.
- Get a Pet: Wild animals can be domesticated. Once they trust you, they act as auto-looters, saving you the hassle of picking up every single item.
- Inventory Cleaning: Read your books and documents, then sell them immediately. Once read, they serve no purpose other than taking up precious bag space.
4. Combat Essentials
Before tackling bosses like the Hornsplitter, make sure you’ve stopped by a blacksmith to Refine your gear. Even a small upgrade in defense can be the difference between life and death.
- Marni’s Excavatron: Defeat this boss early to get the Mining Knuckledrill. It’s a game-changer for gathering ores.
- The Palmar Pill Strategy: These are powerful healing items. Do not waste them on a boss’s first phase. Save them for the final, most difficult phase to avoid restarting the entire fight.
