Nintendo dropped update 3.0.3 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on April 29, 2026, and it solves a problem that has been bothering players since the anniversary patch landed two weeks earlier.
The Leaf Statue that most players received in their mailbox with update 3.0.2 was never made available to buy. If you sold yours, gifted it, or simply missed the earlier update entirely, there was no way to get another one. That changes with 3.0.3.
The patch is small. Two changes, both welcome.
The Leaf Statue Is Finally in Nook Shopping

The 25th Anniversary Leaf Statue is now available to purchase directly from the Nook Shopping furniture catalogue. You do not need to have received it previously to see it listed. Anyone who opens the catalogue will find it there, ready to buy.
The price has also been adjusted with this update. The original sell price of 25,414 Bells has been repurposed as the new buy price. The sell price is now 6,353 Bells. So if you are picking it up fresh, expect to pay 25,414 Bells at the shop.
The statue is shaped like the iconic Animal Crossing leaf and can be interacted with to make it glow. It is a purely cosmetic item, but it carries the weight of the 25th anniversary behind it, and Nintendo clearly did not want players permanently locked out of owning one.
One Bug Fixed

Update 3.0.3 also addresses an issue where item images were not displaying correctly when opening home storage or the hotel room decoration catalogue. The items were still there and accessible, but the icons were not showing. That has been resolved.
Where This Fits in the Update Timeline
Update 3.0 launched on January 14, 2026, alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game. It was the first real content update since version 2.0 in November 2021, and it added a hotel system, expanded storage, new furniture, and Zelda and Splatoon amiibo villagers.
Update 3.0.1 in February fixed a controller rumble issue and several Resetti-related bugs. Update 3.0.2 in April added the 25th Anniversary Leaf Statue as a mailbox gift and fixed several Happy Home Paradise issues.
Update 3.0.3 rounds off the loose end from 3.0.2. The statue is permanent now. You can get it whenever you want, without relying on a secondary character or missing a limited window.
To install the update, press the plus button on the Animal Crossing icon from the Switch home menu and select Software Update. It takes under a minute.
I’m passionate about books and video games. These two great passions represent, for me, a boundless universe where I can “escape” from reality whenever I need or want to. There are so many stories, worlds, and landscapes where I can instantly teleport that I don’t think a whole lifetime would be enough to explore them all (though it would be my greatest dream to be able to).
