The 2027 MMORPG calendar is surprisingly crowded. Some games already have a release window, others have been delayed more than once, and one was only announced this summer. Below are five titles worth keeping on your radar, from a one-person project to the return of a major series. Dates are the ones announced so far and can slip, especially with MMOs.
At a glance
| Game | Release window | Platforms |
|---|---|---|
| ArcheAge Chronicles | Early access in Q4 2026 | PC (Steam) |
| Eternal Tombs | Early March 2027 (developer’s estimate) | PC (Steam) |
| Chrono Odyssey | Q2 2027 | PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S |
| ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom | Q2 2027 | PC (Steam) |
| Guild Wars 3 | Beta in fall 2027, no release date | PC, PS5 |
ArcheAge Chronicles
This is the only game on the list you can play before 2027. Steam early access is scheduled for the last quarter of 2026, and XL Games is publishing it. For longtime fans, it is a chance to return to a new ArcheAge. There is no official date yet for the full launch.
Eternal Tombs
This one has the most unusual story. The game is made by a single developer, Triune Studios, who has worked on it alone for nine years. He is aiming for an early March 2027 release, and a Steam demo was planned for the October Steam Next Fest.
It is an old-school MMORPG with combat similar to New World, more than 30 zones, multiple dungeons and fortresses, raids, and live events run by Game Masters. It was previously called War of Dragnorox. According to MeinMMO, it has no in-game shop. As a solo project it deserves some caution, but the demo should show quickly how solid it is.
Chrono Odyssey
Chrono Odyssey has been delayed again and again: first Q4 2025, then Q4 2026, Q1 2027, and now Q2 2027. Publisher Kakao Games says there will be no further delays. Developed by NPIXEL on Unreal Engine 5, it is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The announced model is buy-to-play with no subscription, and the in-game shop is meant to be cosmetics only. The Matrix system lets each weapon evolve into four playstyles. The first closed beta in June 2025 peaked at around 65,000 concurrent players, but reception was mixed, with criticism of performance, combat and class balance. A second beta has not been announced.
ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom

Announced in August 2026, ArcheAge S is developed by XL Games and targets Q2 2027 on Steam. The team says it wants to keep the identity of the original game in a new experience for fans. Details on gameplay and monetization are still thin, and a preview video was promised after the announcement.
Guild Wars 3
Guild Wars 3 was revealed at Summer Game Fest for PC and PS5, and it is the first mainline game in the series since 2012. It is set in Orr more than a thousand years before the first game, and you play a Vaelwarden, a protector of the land’s spirits. ArenaNet promises combat built for both controller and keyboard, where speed and momentum increase damage, plus spirit mounts called Seekers.
The beta is scheduled for fall 2027, and no release date has been announced. Some outlets expect the full launch in 2028. Pricing and other details will come later. The game will be sold directly by the developer at GuildWars3.com.
Which one are you waiting for?
If you want something to play sooner, ArcheAge Chronicles and the Eternal Tombs demo are the closest. For a big-budget MMO, watch Chrono Odyssey, and for the biggest name, Guild Wars 3. We will update the list if new dates appear.
I’m passionate about books and video games. These two great passions represent, for me, a boundless universe where I can “escape” from reality whenever I need or want to. There are so many stories, worlds, and landscapes where I can instantly teleport that I don’t think a whole lifetime would be enough to explore them all (though it would be my greatest dream to be able to).
