Football simulators have never been as realistic as they are with the arrival of EA SPORTS FC 27! The new entry has been completely rethought to deliver the best experience in the whole franchise. The Grounds
The biggest novelty in FC 27 is arguably The Grounds. It is a new game mode set in an open world. Players can create their own character and meet their friends (or rivals) on the virtual streets. Here, the passion for football starts with a game in the park, not in a huge stadium surrounded by thousands of fans. It is a pretty good idea, especially since you can explore every available region as you please without having to unlock them.
Here is a description of the neighborhoods:
- Montclair, inspired by the French region and, of course, presented by Kylian Mbappé.
- Parkside, which symbolizes English-style football, led by Chloe Kelly.
- Zeiza, which this time represents Argentina, has Paulo Dybala as its mentor.
The three neighborhoods are connected by The Terrace, a main hub where you can meet other players and try out a variety of activities. For example, you can change your avatar, buy cosmetic items or even access competitive matches.
What can you do in The Grounds?
The Grounds is small-scale street football. It is a perfect place to jump into 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 matches. But that is not all. You can also take part in kickabouts, which are far more interesting. These are short activities with different rules:
- Hoops, an activity that is perfect for teamwork.
- In Bocce, you have to land your ball inside a marked circle without overshooting it (a mode for 3 players).
- Obstacle Run tests your ability to dodge obstacles while keeping hold of the ball.
- Keep Away offers another challenge: holding on to the ball as a team in a 3v3 format.
- In Balloon Pop, you need to shoot at other players’ balloons.
- Scenarios are random and come with varied objectives.
- Goal Control is a 1v1 activity in which each player has to score goals.

Better controls
In their official presentation, EA explains every change made to the controls compared with FC 26, and the list is impressive. Players now have more manual control, which makes matches more sophisticated and victories very rewarding. Expect more challenges than before, since fewer movements are handled by the AI. For instance, defenders will no longer try to win the ball back automatically. This feature only applies to competitive mode, though.
Small details that change everything
Some changes may look insignificant, yet it is the small improvements that make the difference. FIFA fans will love FUT Gallery, a new progression system that permanently saves all your cards. Even if you sell your players on the market, they stay unlocked for you. EA has also added the 1-Click SBC feature, which lets you complete a challenge with a single button press.
The Career and Clubs modes offer more customization as well. Thanks to the new Cranium PhotoFit technology, players can use their smartphones to bring their own faces into the game. You can also change the appearance of real athletes, adding tattoos or a mustache, for example. And that is only a small part of all the options available.
