Microsoft recently announced its next-gen gaming device, which is supposed to be a mix between a standard console and a full PC. Project Helix : components and system info
In a nutshell, Project Helix is described as a console in a PC box. This said, the new gaming machine will be able to run games available on both of these platforms. Given its hybrid nature, we can expect to be able to access our Xbox, Steam, GOG, and Epic libraries easily.
The performance should be on top of modern standards, as PH comes with AMD Magnus processor with Zen 6 CPU cores and RDNA 5 GPU architecture. The graphics card will feature ray tracing, which will also be offering a higher quality visuals compared to the Xbox Series X. Enough to agitate the whole gaming community.
Rumors and official statements
Ever since Project Helix was unveiled, the internet has exploded with speculations and rumors. It is important to note that to this day, Microsoft still remains discreet about the production of its new console. Even its name might change in the future, so we advise considering it when reading the news. For example, some say that Microsoft will not be selling the console directly to their customers, however it is not yet confirmed. Same comes to the release date and price: some sources affirm that Project Helix will appear in the stores in 2027-2028 with a price between 700 and 900$, but it remains a rumor, for now.
What we know for sure is that the development kit is set to be sent to developers sometime in 2027, and that the console will feature multiple AI technologies. The most exciting part is that PH will be able to run the games available on previous Xbox versions. The best thing we can do now is to wait for other official statements, even if it means months of waiting.
