Saber Interactive, in partnership with 3D Realms and Anshar Studios, has launched the official demo of the highly anticipated Painkiller 2025 during the Steam Next Fest event. The demo is free to play until October 20, giving players a taste of the relentless action ahead of the full game’s release on October 21, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

Painkiller 2025 reinvents the classic shooter experience for modern audiences, delivering intense, fast-paced gameplay filled with chaos. Players can dive into the carnage solo or team up with friends in an online co-op mode designed for up to three players.
Whether you’re familiar with the franchise or new to its brutal style, the game promises adrenaline-pumping combat against hordes of merciless demons.
To showcase the game’s ferocity, developers released a trailer titled “This Is Painkiller,” which highlights the cooperative gameplay, iconic weapons like the Stakegun and Electrodriver, and epic boss fights—elements that have always defined the series.
A Playground in Purgatory

The game keeps the dark and gothic atmosphere of its predecessors but brings greater mobility and environmental variety. Players can jump, grab ledges, and dash through eerie, nightmarish landscapes inhabited by grotesque creatures.
Enemies range from swarms of vicious demons to colossal monstrosities such as the Nephilim, terrifying offspring of the fallen angel Azazel. Combat demands fast reflexes and smart use of weapons and abilities to survive the onslaught.
Characters and Progression
Players choose from four unique characters—Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch—each with distinctive advantages related to energy, health, strength, and damage. Progression involves upgrading skills and expanding your arsenal while battling through purgatory’s fiery depths.
Cooperative play emphasizes teamwork: in the three-player online mode, teams can explore diverse locations, uncover secrets, and face formidable enemies together.
An exciting addition is the Rogue Angel mode, a roguelike spin-off featuring handcrafted arenas and randomized challenges. Players must survive brutal battles, collect weapons and items, and defeat epic bosses in this intense survival mode.
Preorders and Special Editions
Both Standard and Deluxe Editions (which include the Season Pass) are available for preorder on all major platforms. Preorder customers receive the “Iron Crusade” Skin Pack as a bonus, while physical editions include an exclusive “Burnished Pride” package featuring gold weapon skins.
