The Witcher franchise is getting way bigger than any of us expected. CD Projekt Red is still actively developing Project Sirius, however new reports indicate they have a completely separate, unannounced multiplayer game cooking in the background.
This one isn’t your typical massive console release. Instead, they are targeting a mobile and PC-first model. By completely bypassing Xbox and PlayStation, CDPR wants to tap into the massive mobile market, but without alienating PC players who want a high-fidelity experience. It means the studio has to build a pretty flexible design architecture—one that can push high-end performance on PC hardware but still keep touch controls stable and responsive on a smartphone screen.

User-created Witchers and skill-based co-op
So, what exactly is this secret game? According to reports detailed by MP1st, we are looking at a free-to-play, cooperative action RPG.
Here is a breakdown of what the project reportedly brings to the table:
- A new era: The game is set in the year 1230, carving out a timeline that takes place well before the events of the mainline single-player games.
- Forge your own monster hunter: Instead of stepping into the boots of Geralt or another established character, players will create their own custom Witcher. You will be able to mix and match unique abilities and Signs from various Witcher schools.
- Contract-based gameplay: You will team up with other players to hunt down monsters across a variety of diverse environments.
- Skill-driven combat: Don’t expect a simple mobile clicker. The combat system heavily prioritizes player skill, leaning into precise parries, timely dodges and brutal executions.
Expanding the shared-world ecosystem
With this project, CD Projekt Red is aiming to blend the heavy narrative weight of their mainline RPGs with accessible, co-op mechanics. While it shares some conceptual DNA with the ongoing development of Project Sirius, industry sources are adamant that this specific co-op RPG is a completely separate entity within the studio’s massive production pipeline.
It looks like CDPR is steering the franchise toward a massive, shared-world ecosystem and they are betting big on the co-op market to get there.

I write for Need4Games, mostly keeping track of what’s coming next. I cover showcases and release updates, put together quick lists when you just want the highlights, and I’ll post Steam deal roundups when the sales get wild. I play a lot of games, so I tend to look at games through that lens. No overthinking, just: what it is, why it’s interesting, and if it’s actually worth your time. I also stream now and then on Twitch.
