EXCLUSIVE: Shift Up’s next project is inspired by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In the last few months, I’ve been sitting around and analyzing everything about Shift Up, from the first to the last title, because “Stellar Blade” is one of the most amazing hack and slash action games I’ve played in recent years.

I was also amazed to see that the Koreans are slowly becoming a huge competition for the West, starting with Lies of P, then Stellar Blade, The First Berserker: Khazan, and the newest, Crimson Desert, which we’ve all been waiting for with bated breath.

Leaving the praise aside, I learned some new details about the next project from Shift Up, namely, Project Spirits.

First of all, as they announced at the beginning, the code name was always Project: Witches, then it was changed to Spirits, for reasons that I don’t know yet.

A disappointment for many would be that the game is a gacha, which it seems to be based on the art style and presentation they had.

As for the details, multiple sources have been able to confirm to me that this game has become a Turn-Based with the main inspiration being Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It became so recently, at first, I was told that it was a PVE hunting title.

Another interesting remark about this title was that the game was revealed annually at Shift Up Korea, where the employees were not that excited about the game.

It is worth mentioning that the game is made entirely in China, with very little help from the studio in Korea, the main focus at the moment is the sequel to the game “Stellar Blade”, which I will talk about when the time comes.

For the most part, I can’t reveal data about the release date, but if everything goes smoothly, a release date for 2027 is guaranteed.
