Blight: Survival, the first project of Haenir Studio, looks as impressive as ambitious. Set in the medieval world, it challenges us with intense combat against armed-to-the-teeth humans and hungry for blood monsters. The little indie team found support in Behaviour Interactive, which took the role of a publisher. And while the game doesn’t have a clear release window, it already gained a significant number of wishlists.
Gameplay and Plot
The land is under the control of Blight, a disease that infects humans and turns them into dangerous creatures. In this rapidly decaying world, you have to find and destroy the source of the disease in order to secure the territory. The game is promising to be accessible for newcomers, but more experienced players will find each battle more rewarding and challenging.
Blight: Survival can perfectly be played in solo; however, it’s more focused on cooperative PvE mode. In a group of up to 4 people, you can face the enemies and upgrade your character to match your preferred playstyle. Indeed, there are plenty of different weapons, special skills, and armor that can alter your gameplay. It is clear that the team is also working hard on animations: each fight looks captivating, with realistic movements and sounds. You can dodge, attack, push on the ground, and perform takedowns. Little details add up to the overall immersion. For example, you can clean the sword of blood and roll bodies over to loot them.
Graphics are focused on authenticity above everything else. The whole environment looks grey, dark, and so cold that even a little campfire seems very bright. While the game doesn’t feature an open world, it proposes several maps, conceived for specific missions. The amount of detail is amazing, especially when you know that the levels were created by an indie studio. The setting will be various, coming from marshlands to creepy dungeons. Latest News and Release Date
The work is still in progress. In their latest update, the team shared how they develop the immersion, coming from different angles: how the blight spreads in the world, how the combat feels, and, of course, what each detail looks like visually. 2025 marks a good year for Haenir Studio, with growing interest in their game and community support.
